Abstrakt     Hypersensitivity reactions can be classified on the basis of the immunologic mechanism that mediates the tissue injury. In the article we describe immune mechanisms that underlie four main types of hypersensitivity reactions. Immune reactions, we described, are usually a part of normal immune response that protect the organism against infectious diseases. We describe some circumstances that favour the developement of hypersensitivity diseases that take a vast variety of forms, ranging from trivial disconforts such as itching of the skin to fatal disease such as bronchial asthma. We distinct hypersensitivity reactions evoked by exogenous antigens (drugs, food, polen) from reactions, evoked by endogenous antigens (autoimmune diseases).
