Abstrakt		The article presents the admission respictively the transfer of a demented patient in a psychiatric hospital as a stressful situation for the patient, as well as for his relatives. The task of all the health workers is to prepare the patient and his relatives for this change Active inclusion of relatives and the patient in the planning of nursing care can solve many hardships and doubts accompanying hospitalization; the patient and his/her relatives should be continuosly educated about the disease itself, about the proceedings of nursing care and treatment as a whole and about different possibilities of living outside the institution.
Izvleček		Članek opisuje sprejem oziroma premestitev dementnega bolnika s psihiatrično bolnišnico kot stresno situacijo tako za bolnika kot za njegove svojce. Naloga vseh zdravstvenih delavcev je, da na to spremembo bolnika in njegove svojce temeljito pripravijo. Aktivno vključevanje tako svojcev kot bolnikov v proces načrtovanja zdravstvene nege lahko reši številne stiske in dvome ob hospitalizaciji, zato moramo svojce in bolnike nenehno educirati o naravi same bolezni, o postopkih zdravstvene nege in celotnega zdravljenja ter o možnostih za življenje po odpustu iz bolnišnice.
