Abstrakt     At the Veterinary School clinics in Ljubljana eight trotters were treated for proximal sesamoid bone fractures of hind legs. Although the number of animals is relatively small, it is nevertheless interesting that in six trotters the fracture appeared in the upper third of the sesamoid bone, in one case in the lateral and in the remaining one in the distal section of the sesamoid bone. In all the above mentioned cases the fragment was smaller than one third of the volume of the bone. All eight trotters were surgically treated. After surgery one mare was immobilized with a plaster cast for a period of ten days. The other animals were a bandage during the first ten days that immobilized the pastern, and then during the following twenty days another bandage that only partly supported the pastern. On the fourteenth day after surgery the owners began walking the horses. One month after surgery they began with easy training and approximately three months following the surgery the trotters were ready for competition.
