Abstrakt     This article represents the part of research made with the aim of finding out the influence of various factors regarding breast-feeding in Slovenia. It is focused mainly on the present situation of artificial diet of infants. 881 randomly selected mothers from entire Slovenia witch children within the age of 15 months have been investigated. Mothers breast fed their infants on average 172 days up to the age of 15 months; 4,3 of mothers namely still breast feed the children at this age. Other kinds of milk were given to the children on average at the age of 122 days and among them prevailed the adapted milk Aptamil. Other food was added within the time-frame following the recommended scheme of nutrition for Slovenia. The difference occured in the case of additional fruit and vegetable which were added already at the age of 1,5 month and additions of egg yolk which were added on average 1,5 month later than recommended in the scheme. In the case of additional liquids it is important that as much as 34,8 percent of mothers have been adding them by the spoon. The way of adding the liquids by the spoon was the most important factor influencing the prolongation of breast feeding in bivariate and also multivariate statistical analysis. Other important factors for the prolongation of breast feeding were 8 or more breast feeds daily in the first month of infant life, multiparity, attending of maternity classes, non quoted disturbances while feeding and well informed mothers.
Matere so otroke dojile v povprečju 172 dni.
