Abstrakt     On the basis of the results obtained it can be concluded that reduced evaluation of the candidates' talent for handball is necessary every year, meanwhilde evaluation has to be done every second year before the training groups for the coming season are formed. If on the basis of reduced evaluation the beginners groups become too large, a different organizational model is available. In this case additional measurements have to be performed by using a extended test battery in order to obtain detailed evaluation of the degree of development of the children's motor abilities and morphological characteristcs. With the help of such evaluation more groups, differing in the degree of the development of motor abilities and morphological characteristics, can be formed (competitive and recreational groups). The faculty of sport has invited sports clubs and coaches to participate in the project of selecting and monitoring young athletes and provides them with reduced evaluations of the talent for handball for the primary school pupils. According to the author's opinion expert evaluation can be very helpful at the initial selection of the children for handball playing especially in the clubs gathering children from different schoolt. It is of major importance that the selection is based on as much data as possible on children's abilities and characteristics. Expert evaluation is, of course, and chould not be the only criterion - the children's friendships, cognitive and conative abilities, the children's emotional attachment to handball, the parents' attitudes and subhlike must also be taken into consideration.
