Abstrakt     The success of the IVF procedure was analyzed in 170 patients in which cycle stimulation was carried out by application of a highly purified follicle stimulating hormone (Metrodin HP) and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Both Metrodin HP and hCG were applied subcutaneously. In the entire group 56 clinical pregnancies were reported. The pregnancy rate per cycle was 33.3 percent, while the pregnancy rate per embryo transfer was 45.5 percent. The egg cell fertilization rate was 71.8 percent in tubal factor infertility, 40.7 percent in male factor and 63.6 percent in idiopathic factor infertility. The pregnancy rate per cycle was highest in idiopathic factor infertility (45.4 percent) and lower in tubal (32.1 percent) and male factor infertility (29.7 percent). The highest pregnancy rate per embryo transfer was noted in the group with idiopathic factor infertility (58.8 percent). In patients with tubal factor infertility, the pregnancy rate per embryo transfer was 36.5 percent, while in couples with male factor infertility was 59.4 percent. These results confirm that self-administration of FSH and hCG is a safe method of cycle stimulation which does not decrease the succesfulness of the IVF program.
