Abstrakt		The evaluation of working ability in mentally abnormal persons, among which the neurotically disturbed are the most numerous group, presents in psychiatry a serious and also ethical problem. Seeking refuge in disability is a frequent and significant phenomenon in neuroses and psychoreactive disturbances. The knowledge of psychodynamics of these tendencies is more important than naming of these mental abnormalities itself. Team approach is important for the evaluation. Orientational schemes for the evaluation of temporary disability and for the evaluation of disability of neurotically disturbed patients are presented. The evaluation should first of all be a tool for positive diagnostics for the health of neurotically disturbed. Therefore we must not consent to evaluation of disability in cases, where the tendencies for sick-leave and disability lessen the patient's defensive abilities and make them chronic. Nevertheless, it is necessary to consider the disability problem seriously when deep personality neuroses of neuroses with severe chronic symptoms are in question and where permanent failure at work occurs.
