Abstrakt     The complication of drain clamping during intraarticular injection could be occlusion of the drain. We designed the method without drain clamping - 100 ml 0.25% bupivacaine and 5 mg morphine infusion through the knee joint. Thirty-two patients had arthroscopic knee surgery under spinal anesthesia and satisfactory postoperative pain relief in this manner. Postoperative pain was assessed to 3.1 + 2.1 according to VAS score, the need for an analgesic appeared 11.8 + 7.1 h after analgesic infusion into the knee joint. Thirteen patients (41%) had no need for an analgesic in 24 h after surgery and the remaining 19 patients (59%) used only a small amount of weak analgesic. No side effects were registered.
