Abstrakt | Neurorehabilitation is an integrated therapeutical process for the purpose of enabling head injured patients to overcome deficits after head injury. Therapy should be strucured as a highly individualized program, specifically developed to meet the needs of the patient. Deficitspecific and goal-oriented neuropsychological treatment strategies should be used to encourage recovery of disabled functions and skills. It is a learning process derived from neuropsychological principles and research, based on the brain plasticity. Environmental influences can be crucial. The general role of neurorehabilitation is to restore function and (re)learn new skills, compensatory strategies and substitional behaviours which allow the patient to return to society with an optimal independency. | |
