Abstrakt     In the majority of tested teeth, both procedures - direct capping and pulpotomy - led to the formation o ftwo barriers: one made of connective tissue and collagen directly beneath the capping material, and a hard barrier made of tertiary dentine adjacent to the pulp. A thicker tertiary dentine barrier developed in teeth treated by pulpotomy than in those treated by direct capping. The tertiary dentine formed during the experiment had fewer and less twisted tubules than primary dentine. In teeth with well vascularized pulp, calcium hydroxide crystals migrated from the site of capping apically into deeper regions of te pulp chamber, where they were surrounded by inflammatorz cells. on the basis of the results obtained, pulpotomy may be recommended as a suitable method for clinical rehabilitation of teeth in dogs.
