Abstrakt     Chronic renal parenchymal disease is the most common cause of secondary hypertension, accounting for 5% of all causes of high blood pressure. It was the purpose of our short survey to find out the prevalence of hypertension among the patients with different forms of chronic glomerulonephritis (CGN), and to find some discriminating factors implicated in the pathogenesis of hypertension. One-hundred and eighty patients with biopsy-confirmed CGN in the Deparment of Nephrology in Ljubljana were enrolled in the study. Hypertension was the most frequent in patients with focal/segmental glomerulosclerosis (75%), and membranous glomerulonephritis (65%). Yhe group of patients with hypertension was older and heavier (<0.006). The degree of renal impairment appeaared to influence the occurrence of hypertension in these patients. We could not find any connection between hypertension and serum lipids. In conclusion, our short retrospective study showed in important prevalence of hypertension in many types of CGN, even before noticeable renal limpairment.
