Abstrakt | In order to obtain a picture of the treatment of biliary tract outflow problems in regional hospital we have conducted the retrospective study (Jan 1992 to Oct. 1995) that analyzed the outcome of 52 patients (16 male, 36 female, average 74 years, range 37-90 years) who underwent bilioenterestomy. These group repesents 17% of all patients who were for benign biliary outflow problems. In 42 patients choledochoduodenostomy and in 10 patients choledocho-jejunostomy was performed. Jaundice disappeared 5-18 days after surgery. The average hospital stay was 10 days (range 8-20 days). There were five minor complications (7.3%) and one patient died (1.9%) within 30 days surgery on septic complications. Our series showed that the mortality and morbidity in open surgery patients are acceptable. We conclude that in selected cases there still is a difficult dilemma about a choice of treatment between classic surgery and minimal invasive procedures. | |
