Abstrakt		The possibilities of combining confocal miroscopy with stereology are demonstated on human placental terminal villi. The volumes and surface areas of individual villi and their capillary bed are estimated and the Euler number of the capillary bed is counted. Finally, the advantages and limitations of confocal microscopy are discussed.
