Abstrakt		Assurance of quality in health sector means finding out the problems, defining the aims of health care, identifying the important parameters of care, forming procedures and processes for the attainement of these aims and reacting to the results of these strivings. The improvement of health services quality reduces costs and at the same time improves diagnostic and therapeutic results. The process of quality assurance consists of three components: system structure, processes and outcomes of health activity. Structures are represented by staff, finances, technology; processes by diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; outcomes by psychophysical condition, morbidity and mortality of patients after the use of structures and processes. High intensity of work, consumption and risk are characteristic for intesnive care, therefore an efficient programme of quality assurance should prove highly useful. The use of quality assurance process in the deprartment for intensive care and therapy is presented. Structures, processes and outcome and the process of preparation of plan for quality assurance are defined in ten steps: ascertaining of responsibility, delimitation of care purpose, defining the main aspects of care, defining of indicators, defining of evaluations threshold, data collecting according to defined indicators, evaluation, procedures of problems solving and improvement of care, ascertaining of changes and improvements and mediation of cognitions to the whole organization.
