Abstrakt     Autopsies are the best known and the most typical form of work in forensic medicine. From the records of forensic autopsies from 1945,1946 and 1947 the author therefore selected and presented the notes of the first forensic autopsy performed at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Ljubljana. The first autopsy which required atoxicological testforthe presence of morphine in body fluids was performed on 7 March 1946, while the first autopsy in which alcohol intoxication was established was recorded on 16 September 1946. In 1946112 analyses of blood for alcohol content were performed and there were a total of 53 toxicological analyses in 1946. Over the years, the number of analyses from both activities has increased sharply. Three cases of death are presented in the paper: combined suicide with 3 possible causes of death (also combined drug intoxication), intoxication with glues and suffocation with a plastic polyvinyl bag, intoxication with trichlorethylene.
