Abstrakt     Discovery of Helicobacter pylori (HP) revealed new data about etiopathogenesis of duodenal and gastric peptic ulcer and chronic active gastritis. Epidemiologic studies, immunohistology and molecular biology data support the role of HP infection in gastric cancer and gastric MALT lymphoma. Light microscopic and immunohistologic characteristics of gastric low-grade B-cell MALT lymphoma re also presented. Disclosure of the role of HP infection in gastric carcinogenesis and origin of gastric MALT lymphoma further support the need for its diagnosis and eradication.
