Abstrakt		Adequate retraction of gingival tissues is of utmost importance for obtaining acceptable workin casts. it is achieved by mechanical and chemical means, using different retraction cords and astringent solutions. Most commonly used solutions have a low pH, which makes them potentially harmful for gingiva and dentine. Newer agents, mostly based on tetrahydrozoline, have a near-neutral pH and are free of systemic effects. In the present study, the effects of different retraction agents were evaluated in vitro at the cell level.
