Abstrakt     Rationale. Purpose of the study was to establish the relationship of subjective symptoms to gastroscopy findings and immune response in children with regard to the duration of gastric-infection symptoms after helicobacter pylori eradication and to follow up the course of recovery. Methods. In this prospective study, the clinical and immune responses of 30 children, divided into a short-term medical history group (A) and a long-term medical history group (B), were evaluated. Eradication of H. pylori was diagnosed histologically at the first post-treatment check-up. Long-term follow-up laid emphasis on subjective symptoms and anti-H. pyloriIgG titres in sera. Results. After four weeks' treatment, eradication was reached in 83% of cases. Group A had worse clinical symptoms and higher titres than patients in group B. Long-term follow-up demonstrated successful eradication in 63% of children. In group A, the children had more vigorous clinical symptoms and eradication was exapressed less frequently and persisted for a shorter length of time than for patients in group B. Conclusions. Quantitative IgG determination using the Hel-p Test proved u useful method for monitoring treatment of H. pylori infection in children.
