Abstrakt     Coroli's disease is a rare congenital disease characterised by nonobstructive cystic dilatation of intrahepatic bile ducts. Surgical resection treatment is method of choice for simple or cystic type and liver transplantation for developed periportal fibrosis tipe of the disease. Biliary drainage operations are used as palliative procedure. During the last 12 years, 8 patients with Caroli's disease have been surgically treated at our department. In five patients liver resection have been performed: left hepatectomy in four and right hepatectomy in one patient. Biliodigestive anastomosis have been performed in two cases and transhepatic cyst excision with insertion of T tube in one case. Preoperative diagnostic assessments, and postoperative complications are described as well as follow-up of the patients. Of five resected patients four had histologically proven cystic type of the disease and one patient had periportal fibrosis type of the disease. The latter patient, who had been treated with left hepatectomy has developed secondary biliary cirrhosis and is waiting for liver transplantation.
