Abstrakt		The aim of this study was to find whether the ET on the fourth day after oocyte retrieval improves the clinical effectiveness of in vitro fertilization/embryo transfer (IVF/ET) in the natural cycle. Two series of ETs: the 4th and 2nd day ET in the natural IVF/ET cycle were compared. Seventy-eight women, aged 25 - 39 years, with less than 10 unsuccessfully stimulated IVF/ET cycles for tubal infertility or endometriosis in 116 natural cycles were included. The live birth rate was 13% per natural cycle and 19% per patient. Forty ETs were performed on day 4 (study group) and 28 on day 2 (control group) after oocyte retrieval. The high clinical pregnancy rate per ET in the study group (30%) was not significantly higher compared to the lower clinical pregnancy rate in the control group (18%). It may be concluded that the embryos can succesfully be transfered on the 4th day after oocyte retrieval in the natural IVF/ET cycles.
