Abstrakt     The study was performed to investigate the range and degree of autonomic nervous disfunction (AND) in patients with chronic renal disease (pre-dialysis, treated with hemodialysis-HD or continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis-CAPD or after kidney transplantation), to find differences in the degree of disturbance between different groups of patients, to compare a function of An system between renal diseased patients and healthy controls, adn to determine the most discriminant diagnostic cardiocirculatory tests. Important part of this study was a follow-up of autonomic function in chronic HD treatment over a period of three years as well as the determination of possible connection between AND and uremic biochemical parameters, duration of dialysis, type of dialysis method, adequacy of dialysis treatment, and an identification of patients at greatest risk. One-hundred and twelve patients controlled by the Department of Nephrology were included in the study, among them 72 HD patients (average age 52 years; on chronic HD for average 7.8 years), 10 CAPD patients (51.8 years; 2.4 years), 19 transplanted patients (38 years; 11 less than 3 years after transplantation, 8 more than 3 years), and 10 predialysis chronic renal patients (51,8 years; average serum creatinine 561 micro mol/l). Control group consisted of 43 healthy subjects (average age 44 years). battery of non-invasive cardiocirculatory tests (Valsalva manoeuvre, the deep breathing test, the sustained handgrip test, the orthostatic test, and the spectral analysis of heart rate varuavukuty in supine and standing positions) under the standardised methodology (the same investigation laboratory, the same technician, standardised tests and the same computer assisted data collection and evaluation during whole study).
