Abstrakt		A definitive cause for prostate cancer has not been established. Nevertheless, among the environmental factors androgens appear to have a major role in prostate cancer biology, perhaps acting as prostate cancer promoters. The author reviews the basic concepts of androgen physiology and the possibilities of antiandrogen interventions. This knowledge is essential for rational therapeutic approach in patients with prostate cancer.
