Abstrakt     The topic of the present thesis is a IN VIVO measurement of relaxation times with magnetic resonance imaging. For this purpose we have developed and verified a simple and accurate method that is easy to use on any clinical imaging system. The practical value of this method was demonstrated on patients suffering on rheumatoid or psoriatic arthritis. The relaxation time measurements were used to assess the degree of inflammation in small hand joints. The results obtained confirm that such an estimation is possible but for a definite approval of the method further measurements on different imaging systems and other joints need to be done. Magnetic resonance imaging, relaxation times, contrast agents, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, soft tissue inflammation.
