Abstrakt		With the extraordinarily fast growth in the numbers of vehicles in Slovenia, which other factors in the establishing of traffic safety could not keep up with, the epidemic of traumatization in traffic accidents has become one of the key problems in traffic development. We have tried from several angles to shed light on the proportion of women in traffic (-10% campaign) and especially traffic accidents, with an emphasis on the presence of excessive alcoholism (Ministry of Internal Affairs statistics). The number of women involved in traffic accidents is growing extremely rapidly in Slovenia (there is no longer any difference in the number of male and female applicants for motor vehicle licenses, i.e. in some urban areas the share of female applicants has already exceeded the share of male applicants), and the same holds true among people responsible for traffic accidents (the proportion of women is still only around 20%, and in alcohol-related accidents 2%), however the share of the latter is still far from reaching the share of the former. Men are more often involved in serious or fatal accidents; in accidents involving women there are more serious injuries, and above all light injuries. Despite the fact that the overall number of accidents is decreasing, there is a trend of increase in the seriousness of accidents. In all accidents the differences between the genders are small. In alcohol-related accidents the differences are greater; the seriousness of alcohol-related accidents involving men is growing and the seriousness of accidents involving women is falling. Some decades ago women drivers were rarity, therefore their share of blood- alcohol analyses among drivers was extremely low. This share is growing quickly and in some specifics is very similar to that of men, in others it is again quite different. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters)
