Abstrakt     All the texts under the title Grammar School Education for Information Society of 21st Century are in fact the results of the workshop Research work in grammar schools which took place at the confence in Maribor in November 1997. The workshop was run by Miroslav Kališnik who has outlined the problem of students' research work in grammar school. He has also opened some related questions. The author has tried to define the difference between the notion of research in the usual sense of the word and the notion of professional and science research as well as theoretical and phylosophical consideration. He has realised a long tradition of students' research work in our secondary schools and its various forms. The possibilities for research and the key role of teacher - mentor are also discussed. Staff and infrastructure conditions for introducing research as a compulsory component of bacheloreate have not been created in our schools. Therefore the author sugests that assignments based on research should only be intended for most motivated, most able and most hard working students who have gained their teachers' - mentors' consensus. He suggests some guideGnes for planning the methodology course of research work as every school's compulsory offer.
