Abstrakt     In the period from 1995 to 1997 preliminary investigations of the effects of photooxidants, especially ozone, on agricultural crops, using the methodology of the International Cooperative Program - Crops (ICP-Crops) was begun in Slovenia. The investigation was carried out on eight sites covering the whole area of Slovenia The presence of ozone and its phytotoxic effects was monitored using a selected cultivar of white clover and to ozone resistant and sensitive clones of the same species. The response of plants to ozone and other photooxidants was monitored using the prescribed protocol based on observation of typical ozone induced leaf chlorosis, harvesting of biomass and measurements of selected physiological and biochemical parameters in the leaves of used indicator species. Quantitative visible leaf damage was correlated with ozone measurements in the air. Measured big ozone concentrations were in most cases followed by occurrence of typical ozone injuries on leaves of all indicators used. The protective effect of the EDU application against ozone damage was observed, but not at all sites and observations.
