Abstrakt     The paper presents an implementation of the system for extracting camera orientation from a known background pattern (checkerboard). The problem is solved using a simple pinhole camera model and prior knowledge of the background pattern. The camera's field of view parameter is known in advance. Background is separated from foreground using the well known colorkey or chroma-key method,then the background pattern is processed and horizontal and vertical lines of the checker board pattern are extracted. The intersection point of these lines enables us to calculate camera orientation angles. Method validation is performed on a synthesized animation sequence and "real world" video image. Problem modeling and implementation issues arediscussed.
