Abstrakt | This paper explores the suitability of modern microcontrollers for acquisition of biomedical data, specifically basal skin resistance. Similar appliances exist in the market for biofeedback and other relaxation techniques. It is however difficult to finc a cost-effective equipment for data acquisition and extensive analysis. The aim of building such an equipment was to validate the influence of relaxation techniques on basal skin resistance, a parameter being controlled by the autonomous nervous system. Scientists have discovered very significant pysiological changes while people were practising the Transcendental Meditation technique. These findings have been replicated in this experiment. During the TM texhnique the basal skin resistance tended to rise and became more stable. Such periods were alternating with more dynamic phases. | |
