Abstrakt     Two indirect ELISA tests for the detection of specific IgG in cats and rabbits, infected with Microsporum canis and Trichophyton mentagrophytes (test M. canis-cats and T. mentagrophytes-rabbits), respectively, were developed. The aim of our work was to evaluate their diagnostic potential. Valuable serological tests would contribute to quicker and easier diagnosis of dermatophytosis. Standard diagnostic procedures show some disadvantages; quick Wood's lamp examination has low sensitivity whereas fungal culture, regarded as definitive diagnostic test for dermatopytosis, is long lasting. Completed 2x2 tables and ROC (receiver operating characteristic) curves were used for evaluation of ELISA diagnostic parameters such as sensitivity, specificity and predictive values of a positive and a negative test. M. canis-cats test exhibits possible replacement of Wood's lamp examination. High specificity and high sensitivity of T. mentagrophytes-rabbits test for rabbits of 11 weeks old, exposed to the infection from birth, confirms its encouranging diagnostic potential. it provides an opportunity for evaluation of the epizootiological features of dermatophytosis.
