Abstrakt     Respiratory syncycial virus, virus influenza A and B, and adenovirus are a common cause of respiratory tract infections. The acute infection can be demonstrated by different direct and indirect methods. In patients hospitalized with CAP, the viral isolation and antigen detection from the throat swabs for all above mentioned viruses was performed. In the paired serum samples complement fixation test and indirect ELISA (Virion-Serion, Germany) were done for RSV, virus influenza A and B, and adenovirus. In 152 patients, there was no virus isolated, four had influenza A antigen positive, in three RSV and one influenza B antigen was found. The sensitivity of influenza A IgA and IgG antibodies (comparing to CF) was 70,8% and 62,5%, the specificity 93,7% and 96,1%, respectively. The specificity of influenza B IgA, IgG antibodies specific IgA antibodies reached only 72,7%. Low sensitivity was also detected for RSV and adenoviral IgA antibodies (14,2% and 40%, respectively). The correlation between CF and ELISA was slightly better for specific IgG antibodies.
