Abstrakt     Human leukocyte interferon (HuIFN-alpha) is produced as a consequence of viral induction of human buffy-coat. It has the following properties: m.w. around 20.000, stability at pH 2.0 and 56 degrees C for 30 minutes. In natural form it consists of different subtypes. The performed experiments were aimed: (1) to detect and analyze the subtype, (2) to determine the antiproliferative activity on human cells in vitro and (3) to detect the cytotoxic activity on PLA (pig kidney) cells in vitro. The following results were obtained: (1) The natural HuIFN-alpha consists from at least 10-12 subtypes. (2) The antiproliferative activity of each of them is different, especially on transformed cells. (3) Natural IFN and some of its subtypes show specific cytotoxic activity for PLA cells.
