Abstrakt     The paper deals with the clinical and technical procedures used in fabricating a fixed prosthesis retained by five oral implants according to Branemark's principles and a Swedish construction technique. The most critical part of the method is the passive fit of the construction to the implant abutments. The method was applied in a 56-year-old man with an edentulous lower jaw, who was managed by an interdisciplinary approach. The patient was provieded with a fixed prosthesis supported on five implants between the mental foramina. Extending the prosthesis into the molar regions would have been more justified from a static point of view, but was precluded by the anatomical conditions and physiological contractions of the lower jaw. The fabrication of this type of constructions is rather difficult and complicated. However, the method provides useful solutions for the prosthetic management of edentulous jaws without the use of complete dentures.
