Abstrakt     Coronary artery stenting in conjunction with PTCA is a reliable and safe percutaneous coronary artery revascularization. The rate of stent implantation is expontentially increasing all over the world. Since starting the stenting program in 1995, 351 stents were implanted in 270 coronary arteries of 251 patients over the past three years in Slovenia. Indications for stent implantation are briefly summarized and some drawbacks as procedure complications, restenosis, and cost are mentioned. The possible strategy of percutaneous coronary revaslularization should include aggresive use of PTCA to achieve a "stent-like" result, focal stent implantation, and eventual irradiation for "in-stent" restenosis.
