Abstrakt		The potential for future use of endomyocardial biopsies, possibly involving evaluation of the myocardial matrix, apoptosis, hibernating myocardium, the de-differentiated state of myocardium, the effects of left venricular assist devices, changes in phenotype and chimerism will be discussed and compared with the traditional concept of the human myocardium as a terminally differentiated stable tissue.
