Abstrakt     A century has passed since X-rays have been discovered. The new discovery has touched Prekmurje as well, the region which was at that time from medical point of view a backward one. Those who were poor were at that time treated at home while those who could afford a better treatment went to various Hungarian towns as well as to Graz. These places were their destinations too when they wanted to be examined by X-rays. The first X-rays apparatus Prekmurje got was bought to be used by "Counter-tuberculosis-league" in Murska Sobota. It was set up for it's use in Geiger's House, in the street called "Slovenska ulica". Later, at the time when the country was occupied by the Hungarians the apparatus was put to the house of Vučak MD. For a certain time it was the only one apparatus of that kind in Prekmurje to be used by Prekmurians as well as by the Prleks. After the World War II. the Hospital in Murska Sobota got the so called Siemens Ball which enabled to make radiographs even at the patients beds. In 1946 the Hospital received the next apparatus by UNRA, and some time later the Fisher X-ray apparatus as well. The last one has been used. On April 4, 1974 the Hospital has founded its Department for Roentgenology led by Jože Kocjančič MD. Within the next ten years the Department has got 4 new X-Radiologists. In the seventies several new examinations were introduced at the Department, such as: angiography, myelography, mammography. In 1984 they got the UZ apparatus, while in 1992 CT apparatus.
