Abstrakt     For the early development of angiographic diagnostic radiology at Maribor General Hospital, three periods are significant. Between 1963 and 1968, the first angiographies were performed at the Department of Radiology by various surgeons using simple technical equipment, at times also suitably improvised. Mainly the most urgent cerebral and peripheral angiographies as well as translumbal aortographies were carried out. At the beginning of the second period between 1969 and 1974, reinforced by two new phisicians and an epoch-making new X-ray unit with TV (Pantoscope), the Department of Radiology took over the entire angiographic activity, began to expand it allround, complement and assimilate it, still without suirable angiographic equipment. In the second half of 1974 the acquisition ofsuch a modern device of maximum capacity started an explosive period of development. The Department's team - partly together with internal specialists and surgeons - continually assimilated all current angiographic procedures. In 1974/75 it performed the first two successful coronarographies in Maribor. At the end of the '70s the Department's angiographie team also begun with interventional (therapeutic) procedures, signifying the birth of a new radiologic subspeciality, namely invasive interventional radiology.
