Abstrakt     Purpose: To find out gonioscopic changes following argon laser (AL) iridotomy in primary angle-closure glaucoma with pupillary block. Methods: In the prospective study 19 patients (29 eyes), hospitalized in our department in the time interval from 1.9.1995 to 1.4.1997, with a picture of primery angle-closure glaucoma with pupillary block were included in our study. AL iridotomy was performed in all patients. Results: in 16 eyes (55,2%) the anterior chamber angle was totally closed and in 13 eyes (44,8%) partially closed with the presence of pupilary block before treatment. One hour alter AL iridotomy the anterior chamber angle was wide open in 22 eyes (75,8%), in 5 eyes (17,2%) moderately narrow with minimal peripheral anterior synechiaes. In two eyes (7%) the anterior chamber angle remained closed because of extensive peripheral anterior synechiaes. The mean number of applicated laser spots was 59 (+/-26, min. 24, maks.119). We did nor find a correlation between the angular width following treatment and the number of applicated laser spots. Conclusion: Totally or partially open anterior chamber angle was obtained in 93,1% (27 eyes) after AL iridotomy in our patients. The result was the interruption or reduction of antiglaucoma therapy in 41,4 %.
