Abstrakt     The objective of our study was to evaluate the food habits, the nutritional state and blood count of secondary school students from Maribor region. The authors examined 1000 first and second grade students from five Maribor secondary schools and analyzed the completed questionaries about nutrition. The results show that 92,7% of students eat regularly at home, 37,2% also eat at school, 4,5% at students halls and merely 0.3% at restaurants. On the average they eat 3,4 daily meals, fast food being very popular. Strictly vegetarian diets are extremely rare. The food most often rejected is fish and milk. With increasing age we note an increase in smoking, coffee and alcohol consumption as well as a decrease in extracurricular sports activities. Malnutrition was established in 28% of our subjects while underfeed boys and girls were prevalent. 0,7% were anemic. The authors conclude that the nutrition of secondary school students requires a consistent quality control. Therefore they advise educational programs in the field of healthy nutrition.
