Abstrakt		The authors call attention to the fact that in a critically-ill child changes occur more rapidly and are often more serious than in adult patients. Some characteristics specific to the stage of the child's development are presented. The main aim of the comprehensive observation of the child's basic activities and monitoring of his vital functions is to obtain data on the patient's condition and identify pathologic changes as early as possible. The quality of the patient's survival depends largely on close observatio and promt and competent action of the staff.
