Abstrakt		The authors have evaluated the role of the emergency nursing chart in assuring quality nursing care in emergency care facilities. The analysis shows that the nursing chart is a valuable tool, which should be used also in understaffed units. Minor alterations in the cintinent and layout of the form are recommended, and a patient classification system basad on each patient's individual nursing care needs is proposed. Some of the most common nursing problems encountred in surgical and medical emergency care units of the Klinical center Ljubljana are discussed.
