Abstrakt     The use of electric pulse technology in cell biology, biotechnology and medicine has attracted enormous interest. Pulsed electric fields can cause electroporation, i.e. the permeabilization of the membranes of cell, or electrofusion, i.e. the connection of two separate membranes into one. To achieve these phenomena several requirements are demanded: appropriate temperature, medium conduction, osmotic pressure and electric parameters. The electroporator is a electric device that fulfills electrical parameters. Under electrical parameters we understand output characteristics of the electroporator that make the permeabilization or electrofusion efficient. This is why they have to be consistently fulfilled. On the other hand, the electroporator has to be easy to handle and safe. The electroporator that we designed, meets following output characteristics: pulse amplitude up to 1600V, pulse width from 5 micro s, to 256 micro s, pulse frequency from 1Hz to 40kHz.
