Abstrakt		In view of the high level of risk of suicide oE the Slovene adolescent population (20 per 100,000) we attempted in the research to seek the link between self-destructive behaviour of Slovene high school pupils and their family situation. The research embraced 4706 high school pupils, which provided a representative sample. An extensive questionnaire on factors of risk for the high school population was applied. The results show that a positively experienced family climate, adequate emotional support on the part of the parents, parental education, non-conflictual relations with parents and between parents themselves, and lesser affectedness in relation to conflicts, function as protective factors in relation to self-destructive behaviour of adolescents.
