Abstrakt		In this article, the authoress presents the sociological view on age and ageing that has personal and social implications. She concentrates also on retirement, which means the significant change of socialstatus and on a retirement syndrome and identity crisis, which often follow the process of the retirement. The main subject of the article is the activity, which is the source of social integration and health too.
Izvleček		V prispevku avtorica predstavi sociološki pogled na starost in staranje, ki ima osebnostne in družbene implikacije. Osredotoči se tudi na upokojitev, ki pomeni pomembno spremembo socialnega statusa, ter na upokojitveni sindrom in krizo identitete, ki pojav upokojitve pogosto spremljata. Osrednja tema prispevka pa je aktivnost, ki je vir socialne vključenosti, pa tudi zdravja.
