Abstrakt		The disabled user wants access to the personal computer for at least the same reasons as the nondisabled. However, modifications and even alternatives to standard computer hardware and software are often necessary to make the computer accessible to the disabled user. For the users with spinal cord injury that option is often the only possibility to become capable of handling a wider range of activities independently. First of all they must be evaluated carefully so that their best remaining function is incorporated in the plan of access to the computer. If a person cannot use a standard computer, he or she has an "access barrier", and an adaptive device can be used to help the person use the computer. Our department has started with an experimental program to lower many of these bariers and to introduce them basics of the most usefull and popular software. Program will be improved due to wishes and needs of our patients and new discoveries on the field of computer science.
