Abstrakt | In this review article we describe usefulness of the stent in central veins stenoses or occlusions. We describe the indications, method, results and possible complications of stent placement in the treatment of superior vena cava syndrome, as well as usefulness of the stents in other veins. We did not include hemodialysis patients, because their lesions respond differently to this kind of therapy and these problems are described elsewhere in this book. We present two of our own patients with superior vena cava syndrome. Success in the treatment of this syndrome with metallic stent placement is around 90% according to the literature. The complication rate is low. In conclusion we give some suggestion about the use of stent placement in central veins.
