Abstrakt		The paper presents basic development premises which have in various professional areas contributed to set up supervision, applying them to supervision in physiotherapy. Although the term "supervision" may sound sophisticated, it is just one of the techniques defining the relationship between supervisee and supervisor through mentorship, management and consulting type of counseling. It is based on building an indirect, physiotherapist- oriented counseling approach. The purpose of this approach is to help in shaping professional identity and independence in physiotherapy by way of educational, supportive and directional elements of supervision. Through supervision, it is possible to help a physiotherapist in specific working conditions which can often be designated as stressful, in a democratic and voluntary way.
