Abstrakt		At Maribor Teaching Hospital (MTH) the Committee for the use of antibiotics was established on 24 September 1985. The purpose of this Committee is counselling in the field of prevention and treatment with antibiotics, its aim to attain a professional and economically reasonable application of antibiotics at MTH. At the same time its aim is to decrease the occurrence and spreading of multiresistant bacteria, the number of hospital infections and side effects of treatment as well as to attain more favourable financial operations. The Committee works as a team, the essence of its work being the mediation of novelties in the field of antimicrobial drug use by means of written recommendations, lectures, consultations and advisory work in individual special fields. The Committeee is headed by a specialist in infectology.
