Abstrakt     As a cardiac invasive procedure electrophysiologic testing (EPS) represents the final diagnostic procedure upon definitive description of arrhythmia pathoanatomic substrate. Radiofrequency ablation (RF), represents the definitive treatment of certain types of tachyarrhythmias. EPS and RF ablation are usually performed as a single procedure. The RF ablation procedure is generally safe and brings a high success rate in the treatment of several types of cardiac arrhytmias, especially the supraventricular. Healing is definitive in a great percentage and is accompanied by a low recurrence rate. The technique of EPS and RF ablation in the pediatric population is generally the same as in adults, with some specific differences regarding the indications for the procedure. The decision about the procedure is influenced by the difference in course of disease in childhood, by the possibilities of spontaneous regression, medical treatment, by the success rate and risk of RF ablation in children. The pediatric population is specific and there is no absolute indication or contraindication for the RF ablation procedure. The decision is made after careful individual judgement by the clinical pediatric cardiologist and cardiac interventional electrophysiologist. The invasive electrophysiologic diagnostic techniques of EPS and RF ablation have became a part of clinical cardiac pediatric practice after they had become well established in adult cardiology.
