Abstrakt		I believe the regular readers of Kemija (Chemistry) magazine need no introduction to my colleague, Prof. Dr. Danilo Lasič. Through his exceptional articles published in our magazine, he has already presented himself in the best possible light regarding the professional, scientific field in which he works. However, the purpose of the interview with this top Slovenian scientist, who has been working in the USA for a number of years, was to portray another side of him. We wanted to show him as an intellectual of broad horizons and extensive scientific learning (including Slovenian science), as a musician and lover of art and nature, a cosmopolitan and a Slovene who has not forgotten his roots in foreign lands. These roots, composed also of his many Slovene friends and fellow scientists, connect him to his homeland so strongly that he returns to visit at least twice a year. I kept these facts in mind as I prepared the following few questions, which Prof. Dr Danilo Lasič answered with great pleasure.
