Abstrakt     The procedures involved in the diagnosis of female urinary incontinence are presented in detail. To determine the type of urinary incontinence, the following diagnostic procedures should be carried out: patient history, laboratory tests, pelvic examination combined with an orientation-based neurologic examination, tests for objectivization of urinary incontinence urologic examination, urodynamic investigations, ultrasound examination, X ray examination, neurophysiologic examinations. Pad tests and their evaluation are described in a greater detail. The most precise data on the degree of urinary incontinence, and on the problems encountered by the patient, are obtained with quan- tification of the involuntary loss of urine at the 2/3 and full bladder capacity, as well as by the precise weighing of the pads after every activity. The most representative results have been obtained by the tests at the 2/3 bladder capacity, and they agree with the reliable patient history from 92 % to 96 %. A detailed description of urodynamic tests is provided. The importance of the urethral pressure profile (UPP) is evaluated; according to the author, the UPP as an independent parameter has its value in the diagnosis of stress urinary incontinence only at its extreme level, i.e. when it is < 25 cm of water column. The importance of urodynamic stress test (at cough) in the diagnosis of stress urinary incontinence is emphasized. Positive urodynamic stress test shows the incorrect transmission of the intraabdominal pressure to the proximal urethra (PTR - pressure transmission ratio). The impact of cystometry as the most important independent urodynamic parameter is highlighted. Besides, the importance of the detrusor pressure in the diagnosis of motor or sensory urinary incontinence is determined.
